This story is just too awesome for me to pass up! The tie in? That this occurred because a reporter drove by this man- and goes to show that perhaps next time you drive by a homeless person asking for something, give it some thought.

If you haven't heard, a reporter from the Columbus Dispatch in Columbus, Ohio, recently followed up on a homeless man standing near a highway offramp. That man held a sign asking for help and that he had a talent. I've written off such people before- but goes to show that some good still may come out of your willingness to help.

72 hours ago, Ted Williams was standing near the interstate in Columbus, Ohio, with a coat and a sign saying he had fallen on hard times. The reporter took a camera...

This is a greatest story since Susan Boyle. I just can't get enough hearing about him. He is so genuine and can be such an inspiration for so many. I just hope he doesn't get trashed by the same media that brought him instant fame. I pray, this veteran, can survive this frenzy and make something of himself that we all can be proud of.

Providing a person who does not have utilities, like those who don't have employers, is a great idea. It would be a better idea to provide these needed things to a reliable resource which is into the business, like a food pantry.

Giving a loner on the street food, may not really need food at all, but more for game.

One thing that these homeless people don't have to worry about it the miserable climb in the price of oil/gas people with available money keep having to spend and spend!!!

Just know this that Ted was messed up on drugs and that's the hard times he is talking about that had befallen him, He made some very bad choices and was paying the price. Now it seems that he is making another choice, a much better choice! I am all for helping those who are trying to better them selves! Please don't help support some others drug habits. Good call Freecain.

it's like the man in New York every day went to the off ramp and helled a signed stating will work for food well it turns out that that person makes about 1 million a year just for holding a sign. started doing it because he lost his job and no one would hire him. i am not about to do that, i will work for my money.

yeah, still don't like road side beggars. Donate your money to homeless shelters and soup kitchens, it will go further.
Good for Ted Williams though, I heard his voice the other day, and I hope he cleans up his act. It really is a one in a million voice.

Wow, it's a cool story, but yet we aren't hearing about the guy who set himself on fire and died in Tunisia because of their unemployment crisis, or what is currently happening in Iran, Sudan and North Korea (which could spark world war III).... It's a touching story (and I hope he gets/stays sober) - but I FREAKING HATE BEGGARS!!!!!!!!!!!! It goes much further when someone walks into my shop and asks for a side job to make ends meet, instead of PESTERING PEOPLE (can we say EYESORE and TRAFFIC DISRUPTION?!?) and begging for $$$ (which is used for drugs and booze 99.9% of the time)...

Ted Williams has to be one of the most fortunate individuals in America. From streets of Columbus, Ohio he is now the toast of the town with job offers pouring in from the Cleveland Cavaliers to companies wanting to employ him.
