The Department of Energy released its weekly report on the condition of petroleum inventories in the United States today.

Here are some highlights:

Crude oil inventories increased by 1.9 million barrels to a total of 345.1 million barrels. At 345.1 million barrels, inventories are 13.6 million barrels above last year (4.1%) and are much above average. Supply at NYMEX delivery point, Cushing, Oklahoma fell 0.9 million barrels to 37.4 million barrels this week.

Gasoline inventories increased 4.7 million barrels to 240.9 million barrels. At 240.9 million barrels, inventories are now 10.4 million barrels, or 4.5% higher than last year (last week that number was 3.6% higher). The only decreases in gasoline inventories...

What PD fails to pick-up on, is the TRUE change in crude oil inventories.

Realize, that it takes one 42-gallon barrel of crude oil to yield ~19.5 gallons of gasoline, or 42 barrels of crude to yield ~19.5 barrels of gasoline.

And a 4.7 million barrel build in gasoline inventories, REQUIRED 10.12 million barrels of crude oil.

Thus, the TRUE total increase in crude oil was *12* million barrels before refining.

Focus2: "Isn't business opportunities great without regulations and subsidized with our tax dollars? Try and get these subsidies removed from big oil and the GOP will reject it every time"

Have you forgotton the fact that during the last 2 years the Democratic party controlled both the House of Representatives and the Senate by large majorities, and the Executive Branch, yet they too did nothing to change
the subsidies you refer to.

It is clear that both parties are to blame for our present situation.

Inventories are at a 26 year high, yet prices, despite conservation and lack of demand remain at levels only explaioned by GREED.

Nobodys buying gas, I think we should give the corporations bigger tax breaks, so they can continue living in the life style they have come accustomed to, perhaps.

As long as demand remains high, the prices will probably stay up, or at least not crash. If demand were to fall off too, it would be 1980 all over again.

Dear Mr. Obama,

Why can't you get people to put the prices back the way they were
when gas only cost $1.49 a gallon?

Thank you,
